“If Not Me, Who?”

If you haven’t taken ten minutes to watch Emma Watson deliver her speech to the U.N. on men’s role in gender equity, here’s a great opportunity.

Speaking as a young English woman who enjoys far more rights than many women around the world, Watson makes the point that men are as wrapped up in the struggle for equity as women are. And they suffer from inequity, too, but in different ways.

There’s also a bit of advice in there for anyone on the fence about doing something scary:

In my nervousness for this speech and in my moments of doubt I’ve told myself firmly—if not me, who, if not now, when. If you have similar doubts when opportunities are presented to you I hope those words might be helpful.

You can also read the transcript of her speech here.
