2016 Conference Day Suggestions: Best Session Picks for Different Job Paths

Help me plan my day! It’s a request we get more and more as we add new offerings to the Conference. “Of course, you can’t go wrong with any mix of sessions, but we do the programming with several different career tracks in mind,” says Director Laurie Dalton White. Here, our recommendations for a few different career tracks.

GLASS-CEILING BREAKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “Transformational Teams” in Lower Level 20 or “The Pay Equity Tipping Point” in Meeting Room 201EF.

11 am – 11:30 am: Ask an executive career coach your burning questions in the Coaches Corner, Gilead Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Raising the Tide” in Grand Ballroom 220A.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Watermark booth in the Community Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Connect with colleagues and charge your phone in the Cisco Networking Lounge in Hall 1.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert exchange “Challenging the Status Quo” in Meeting Room 210EF.

4 pm – 5 pm: Join a social media roundtable—perhaps “Jumping into Social Is As Easy As 1, 2, 3” in the EMC Technology Pavilion; meet like-minded local leaders who have succeeded in high tech, public service, fashion, sports, digital media and more in the Coaches Corner, Gilead Career Pavilion; and end your day sipping local wines at BottleRock’s wine tasting in Hall 1.

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel on “Unconscious Power Dynamics for Your Advantage” in the Grand Ballroom 220A.

11 am – 11:30 am: Attend the “LinkedIn Work Profile Makeover” workshop to perfect your networking skills in the Cisco Networking Lounge in Hall 1.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend workshop “The Unwritten Rules for Success” in Lower Level 21ABC or panel “Strategies to Stand Out” in Lower Level 20.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Ask a career coach for his or her negotiating tips in the Coaches Corner, Gilead Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm to 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Watermark booth in the Community Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert exchange session “Taking Your Seat at the Leadership Table” in Meeting Room 210AB.

4 – 5 pm: Join a small business roundtable—perhaps “Charge What You Are Worth” in the Small Business Marketplace; have your resume reviewed by HR and career service experts in the Gilead Career Pavilion.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Ask a career coach your burning questions in the Coaches Corner, Gilead Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Community Connection Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend workshop “Playing Big” in Ballroom 220A or expert exchange “Maximizing Your Career in a Virtual Environment” in Meeting Room Lower Level 21ABC.

3 pm – 4:40 pm: Attend a social media roundtable inside the EMC Technology Pavilion—perhaps “Build Your Personal Brand with Social Media” to maximize how you approach your social media outreach.

4 pm – 5 pm: Return to the Gilead Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach or have your resume reviewed; at 4:00 pm, attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

TRANSITION MAKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “Reviving Your Career” in Meeting Room Lower Level 21ABC.

11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach in the Gilead Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Squash Your Inner Critic” in Ballroom 220B or attend workshop, complete with belly laughs, “Aging with a Vengeance” in Ballroom 220C.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Attend “LinkedIn Profile Makeover” workshop in the Cisco Networking Lounge in Hall 1.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: To remember the day, take a fun photo in EMC’s interactive photo booth in the EMC Technology Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert exchange session “Achieving Your Biggest Professional Dreams” in Meeting Room Lower Level 21DEF or join a small business roundtable—perhaps “Social Entrepreneurism: Building a Business Model that Gives Back” or “Your Memoir: What it Takes to Get Published”—inside the Small Business Marketplace and a social media roundtable such as “Get Inspired on Pinterest” in the EMC Technology Pavilion.

4 pm – 5 pm: Get inspired by a local leader who has succeeded in high tech, public service, fashion, sports, digital media and more in the Coaches Corner, Gilead Career Pavilion; end your day sipping local wines at BottleRock’s wine tasting in Hall 1.

INNOVATORS, ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS:

Before the Conference:  Visit the QVC Stage in the Small Business Marketplace to sign up for a time to pitch your product to a QVC expert panel.

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend workshop “Living with Intent” in Ballroom 220C.

11 am – 11:30 am: Attend “LinkedIn Profile Makeover” workshop in the Cisco Networking Lounge in Hall 1.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “What’s Behind the Buzz” in Meeting Room 210EF.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Community Connection Pavilion.

4 pm – 5 pm: Join a small business roundtable—perhaps “Taking Your Idea from Concept To Business Success” —inside the Small Business Marketplace or a social media roundtable like “Social Selling and the Path to Real ROI” in the EMC Technology Pavilion. Also, if you didn’t sign up for a QVC pitch time in advance, come to the Small Business Marketplace to sign up for an unreserved pitch time. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
