LAURA GARCIA-CANNON anchors weekday mornings, “Today in the Bay.” This multiple Emmy Award winning journalist began her career in broadcasting in San Francisco before moving on to report and anchor in Fresno. Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, she was an investigative reporter and anchor in Phoenix, Arizona. While there, Garcia-Cannon was honored with The Associated Press Reporter of the Year award along with multiple Emmy and AP awards for writing and reporting. One of her fondest achievements was accepting an Emmy award in San Francisco for best daytime broadcast. She was also recognized with a Best Daytime Newscast award in the Bay Area by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television. Garcia-Cannon is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and serves on the board of trustees of her alma mater, Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga, where she earned a B.A. in communications and government. She also serves on the board of directors for the American Cancer Society as well as the board of the Catholic Professional Business Club. @lauragarciacann
