Lauren Bonar Swezey

LAUREN BONAR SWEZEY leads sustainability for Facebook global real estate and facilities in Menlo Park where she directs sustainability initiatives, including green building and renewable energy. She’s currently overseeing development of the nine-acre green roof on Facebook’s new campus, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, and 2.5 mw solar systems on the main campus. Along with her role as sustainability lead, she heads up Facebook’s local community outreach, partnering with nonprofits and schools surrounding Facebook’s campus. Swezey began her career as a journalist reporting on the environment and green living, as well as all areas related to outdoor living and gardening. She spent much of her career as a writer and editor at Sunset Magazine. In 2008, Swezey changed careers to follow her passion and work directly in sustainability. She attained her LEED green building certification and became co-director of the non-profit Connect the Dots Silicon Valley. She currently sits on the advisory board of Canopy and development committee of Peninsula College Fund. @lbswezey
