KARYN SMITH is the first ever general counsel of Twilio, a cloud communications company based in San Francisco. Smith brings more than 20 years of experience working with high growth companies. Prior to Twilio, she served as deputy general counsel at Zynga, where she was the company’s second lawyer and she was responsible for overseeing all corporate matters, including leading Zynga through its $1B IPO and $500M secondary offering. Prior to Zynga, Smith spent 10 years at Cooley Godward as a partner in the corporate group, where she focused on public offerings, M&A transactions, venture financings, public company reporting and corporate governance and board issues. Smith served on the SEC’s advisory committee on small and emerging businesses from 2011 to 2013, and she has received numerous awards from the legal and business community in the Bay Area. @twilio
