Heather Hiles

HEATHER HILES is the founder and CEO of Pathbrite, the world’s leading portfolio learning software platform. She recently sold Pathbrite to Cengage Learning, a $two billion ed tech and publishing company. Pathbrite is used by over five million K-12, college and university students all over the world. Hiles has accepted a position as chairwoman and CEO of Sanverbos, a medical device startup, and is also serving as a senior education advisor to Cengage Learning. Before founding Pathbrite, Hiles built a career in education, workforce development, and finance spanning 25 years. A successful serial entrepreneur, her leadership experience includes positions as founder or leader of several organizations including, commissioner, San Francisco Unified School District, executive director, Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2), co-founder of EARN, CEO of SFWorks, managing partner, The Hiles Group and COO, Break The Cycle. She has been named among the Top 100 coolest people in Silicon Valley by Business Insider. She has been featured in CIO Review, FastCompany magazine, The Wall Street Journal, EdWeek, Black Enterprise magazine and more. She was also recently inducted into The Credit Suisse Entrepreneurs Circle. Hiles earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley in economic development and an M.B.A. from Yale University, with a concentration in finance and strategic planning.
