Christina Smedley

CHRISTINA SMEDLEY brings more than 20 years’ experience developing, planning and implementing programs around the world for leading brands and companies in a wide range of industries to her role as PayPal’s global brand and communications officer. She oversees teams that are defining the company’s unique narrative and she leads the company’s efforts to connect with audiences through social media channels and cutting edge experiential marketing approaches. She directs the central development team responsible for PayPal.com, paid media campaigns, creative executions, strategy, CRM, email, research and insights. Additionally she manages policy, earned and owned media execution and all internal communications to the company’s 14,000 employees – from customer service centers to headquarters. She came to PayPal in 2012 from the public relations giant Edelman, where she was global chair of consumer marketing, the firm’s largest practice. During her distinguished career at Edelman, she led award-winning campaigns for many of the world’s best known brands and companies. From 1999 to 2003, Smedley served as director of worldwide communications at Amazon.com, where she led the company’s communications activities in all markets outside the U.S., directed retail planning for amazon.co.uk, and handled advertising, media spending, research, online activities, customer relationship management and email marketing. @smedleyus
